the right to vote
투표권

Amazing though it seems today, suffrage for woman was a hotly contested issue at the beginning of the twentieth century. Many men -- and many women, for that matter -- seriously believed that choosing among political candidates would place a great strain on women's supposedly feeble intellects, and women were not guaranteed the right to vote until 1920.

Women who advocated the extension of suffrage to women were known as suffragettes.
